ICAPP Update (15-41)

Dear Distinguished Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee,

This is to inform you that I had meetings with the leaders of Indonesia, Azerbaijan and Turkey as follows, and they all agreed that their governments will co-sponsor the draft resolution to invite the ICAPP as an observer to the U.N. General Assembly.

1. Meeting with H.E. Jusuf Kalla, Vice President of Indonesia in Seoul on August 26

2. Meeting with H.E. Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, in Baku on September 3

3. Meetings with Hon. Naci Koru, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, and Hon. Dr. Yasin Aktay, Vice Chairman in charge of Foreign Affairs of AK Parti (Justice and Development Party) of Turkey, in Ankara on September 4.

The draft resolution, originally co-sponsored by seven countries, i.e. Australia, Cambodia, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Philippines and Sri Lanka, has been circulated as U.N. Document, No. A/70/194 of August 18, 2015, which is attached herewith.

Also attached is a memo prepared by the Secretariat on the ICAPP's application for U.N. Observer Status.

In this regard, SC Members, representing the countries which are yet to co-sponsor the draft resolution, are kindly requested to recommend their respective governments to do so as soon as possible.
