ICAPP Update (15-49)

Dear Distinguished Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee,

In continuation of ICAPP Update 15-34 of August 21, 2015 regarding the ICAPP's bid for observer status in the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA), it was confirmed that the draft resolution to invite the ICAPP as an UNGA observer will be considered on October 19 at the Sixth Committee meeting of the 70th session of the UNGA.

Five other organizations, i.e. the Cooperation Council of Turkish-speaking States, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Community of Democracies, the International Civil Defense Organization, and the Indian Ocean Rim Association, have also applied for observer status in the UNGA, and their applications will be considered at the same meeting.

In this regard, the Secretariat proposes to send an ICAPP mission to the U.N. to support the efforts of co-sponsors of the draft resolution. SC Members who wish to join the mission are requested to confirm their participation. They are also requested to make their own arrangements for the visit.

For your information, I tentatively plan to arrive in New York in the afternoon of October 18 and depart in the evening of October 20, and stay at One U.N. Plaza Millennium Hotel (www.unplaza.com) on 44th St. in front of the U.N. Headquarters.
