ICAPP Update 15-34

Dear Distinguished Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee,

As informed by ICAPP Update 15-33 of August 12, 2015, the seven co-sponsors of the draft resolution to invite the ICAPP to the work of the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA) in the capacity of observer, i.e. Australia, Cambodia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nepal, Philippines and Sri Lanka, have submitted a formal request to the U.N. Secretary General to include the item on the provisional agenda of the 70th session of the UNGA which will start next month.

In this regard, SC Members are requested to coordinate with their respective governments to render full support for the ICAPP's bid for observer status, including joining the draft resolution as additional co-sponsors and demonstrating strong solidarity during the course of deliberations at the UNGA.

SC Members are also requested to consider joining the ICAPP mission to be sent to the UNGA in time for deliberations of the item at the Sixth Committee, which is tentatively scheduled for October 19, 2015 according to the provisional program of work of the 70th session of the UNGA.

Attached are the letter signed by the Permanent Representatives of the seven countries to the U.N. and its annexes, i.e. the explanatory memorandum and the draft resolution. Also attached is the provisional work program of the Sixth Committee of the 70th session of UNGA.
