ICAPP Update (14-23)

Dear Distinguished Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee,

As reported at the 21st SC Meeting held in Vladivostok last May, an ICAPP mission visited India during July 11-12, 2014 and had meetings with the leaders of the two main political parties, including Hon. Ram Lal, Secretary General of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Hon. Dr. Karan Singh, Deputy Leader of the Indian National Congress.

In particular, the leaders of both parties confirmed their continued support for the activities of the ICAPP, and agreed to send high-level delegations to the 8th General Assembly of the ICAPP to be held in Colombo during September 18-21, 2014.

They also agreed to share the membership of India in the ICAPP Standing Committee with equal status and responsibility, and to consider that the BJP would host the 2nd ICAPP Workshop on Human Trafficking in mid January and the Indian National Congress would host the 24th Meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee during the first half of 2015 in New Delhi respectively.
