ICAPP Updates
ICAPP Update (10-15) 1. The main theme of the conference will be "Poverty Alleviation: the Common Responsibility for Political Parties in Asia," and two sub-themes will be "Significance of Poverty Relief in Asia to the Implementation of the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals(MDGs)," and "Searching for Asian Approaches to Poverty Alleviation." 2. The program of the conference will start with a field trip to study China's implementation of development-oriented poverty alleviation measures in Yunnan Province during July 14-15. Foreign delegates are expected to arrive at Kunming, capital city of Yunnan Province by Tuesday, July 13. The 13th SC Meeting and the ICAPP Conference on Poverty Alleviation will be held in Kunming during July 16-18. Following the conference, foreign delegates will be invited to Beijing for a meeting with senior Chinese leaders on Monday, July 19. 3. All political parties eligible to participate in ICAPP activities are welcome to apply for participation in the conference. 4. A report of the conference, which will reflect the concerns of Asian political parties for poverty alleviation and development issues, will be adopted at the end of the conference. The document will then be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly through an appropriate channel. 5. More detailed arrangements, including the invitation list and formal program, will be finalized in mid-May. In this regard, the concept paper and application form prepared by the CPC are attached herewith. They are also posted on the website of the ICAPP at www.theicapp.org. The SC Members are kindly requested to provide their comments or suggestions to the above arrangements, so that the CPC and the Secretariat can take them into consideration in further development of the program and the arrangements.
