ICAPP Update (10-17)

Dear Members of the Standing Committee,

It is with great pleasure to inform you that H.E. Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia and the leader of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), has confirmed the decision to co-host the 6th General Assembly of the ICAPP in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from Dec.1 (Wed) to Dec. 4 (Sat), 2010 under the main theme of "Asia's Quest for a Better Tomorrow", with special emphasis on economy, energy, and environment. Please find the attached letter from the Prime Minister addressed to the Co-Chairmen of the ICAPP Standing Committee.

The secretariat has also been informed by the Office of the Prime Minister that H.E. Sok An, Member of the Standing Committee of CPP and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers has been appointed as Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 6th General Assebly. Also, a senior level official from the FUNCINPEC Party will serve as Vice-Chairman of the Organizing Committee together with two Vice-Chairman from the CPP. Moreover, H.E. Suos Yara, Vice-Chairman of the Commission for Foreign Affairs of the CPP has been appointed as Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee. In connection with this, Hon. Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Secretary General of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Pakistan has confirmed his agreement to serve as Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the forthcoming General Assembly.
