ICAPP Update (11-15)
Dear Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee,
Taking advantage of an opportunity to travel in the United States, I visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York during March 16-18. And I had meetings with high-level officials in the U.N. Secretariat and representatives of most of the Member States which are represented in the ICAPP Standing Committee and discussed with them how to proceed with our initiative to be invited to participate in the work of the U.N. General Assembly as an observer. Please find attached my report on the results of the meetings.
The Secretariat will soon circulate drafts of the following documents which are required to be submitted to the U.N. to initiate the process of obtaining an observer status for the ICAPP, preferably during the 66th session of the U.N. which will start in coming September.
(1) Letter, addressed to the U.N. Secretary General of the U.N. and the President of the U.N. General Assembly and to be signed by Permanent Representatives of Member States which are represented in
(3) A draft resolution to invite the ICAPP as an observer for adoption at the U.N. General Assembly.
In this regard, SC Members are requested to recommend the governments of their respective countries to give formal instruction to their Permanent Missions to the United Nations to support the ICAPP's bid to obtain the observer status in the U.N. General Assembly.
With best regards,
