ICAPP Update (24-53): List of Political Parties to be invited to the 12^th GA

This is to inform you that the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the ICAPP Secretariat are preparing to send invitation letters to political parties in Asia in early September to attend the 12th General Assembly (GA) of the ICAPP, to be hosted by the CPP in Phnom Penh under the theme of “A Quest for Peace and Reconciliation” from Thursday, November 21st to Sunday, November 24th, 2024.

There are a total of 336 political parties which are eligible to participate in the ICAPP activities in 52 countries and one territory, which reflects the latest results of the nationally-held elections as of August 30th, 2024, in accordance with Article 2 of the ICAPP Charter and the understandings reached at the 5th SC Meeting in June 2006 and the 8th SC Meeting in November 2007. The list is enclosed herewith as Attachment I.

The Secretariat, however, recommends the SC Members to adjust the number of political parties to be invited to the 12th GA to 196 political parties in 51 countries and one territory as shown in Attachment II, to make the list more consistent with the Charter and to more properly reflect the political situation in their respective countries as indicated in the footnotes under the headings of relevant countries in Attachment I.

In this regard, SC Members are kindly requested to share their opinions or suggestions regarding the Secretariat’s recommendation at their earliest convenience.

Lists of observers and other participants to be invited will be circulated in due course.
