ICAPP Updates
Dear Distinguished
Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee, With regard to the
ICAPP's bid for observer status in the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA), SC Members
are kindly requested to recommend their governments to give clear instructions
to their missions to the U.N. to support the draft resolution to invite the
ICAPP as an observer. As SC Members may
recall, ten Member States had co-sponsored the draft resolution at the 70th
session of the UNGA last year. They are Australia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia,
Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nepal, Netherlands, Philippines and Sri
Lanka. The SC Members from these countries are kindly requested to reconfirm
their governments' co-sponsorship of the draft resolution. And the SC Members
whose governments are yet to join as co-sponsors are also kindly requested to
recommend their respective governments to do so as soon as possible. According to the
rules of procedures of the UNGA, the co-sponsorship list should be submitted by
October 4, 2016 in order to be included in the official document to be prepared
by the U.N. Secretariat in time for the Sixth Committee Meeting which plans to
deliberate the item on October 10. With warm regards, Chung Eui-yong Co-Chairman of the
Standing Committee and Secretary General of the ICAPP Seoul, Korea September 19, 2016 |
