ICAPP Updates
Dear Distinguished
Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee, In continuation of
ICAPP Update 16-52 of September 19, 2016, regarding the ICAPP's bid for
observer status in the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA), SC Members are kindly
reminded to recommend their governments to support the draft resolution to
invite the ICAPP as an observer. In particular,
countries, which are represented in the Standing Committee, are requested once
again to co-sponsor the draft resolution. In this regard, the new
co-sponsorship list should be submitted to the U.N. Secretariat by October 4,
which will be then circulated among all U.N. Member States as an U.N. document
in time for deliberations at the Sixth Committee on October 10. The Missions of
Sri Lanka (Counsellor _Madhuka Wickramarachchi) and
the Republic of Korea (Counsellor Rhee Zha-hyoung) to
the U.N. will coordinate to get the signatures of Permanent Representatives of
the Member States which will co-sponsor the resolution. In this regard,
the ten Member States which had co-sponsored the draft resolution at the
70th session of the UNGA last year, i.e. Australia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia,
Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nepal, Netherlands, Philippines and Sri
Lanka, are also kindly requested to reconfirm their governments'
