In continuation of ICAPP Update 16-52 of September 19, 2016, regarding the ICAPP's bid for observer status in the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA), SC Members are kindly reminded to recommend their governments to support the draft resolution to invite the ICAPP as an observer.
In particular, countries, which are represented in the Standing Committee, are requested once again to co-sponsor the draft resolution. In this regard, the new co-sponsorship list should be submitted to the U.N. Secretariat by October 4, which will be then circulated among all U.N. The Missions of Sri Lanka (Counsellor _Madhuka Wickramarachchi) and the Republic of Korea (Counsellor Rhee Zha-hyoung) to the U.N. will coordinate to get the signatures of Permanent Representatives of the Member States which will co-sponsor the resolution.
In this regard, the ten Member States which had co-sponsored the draft resolution at the 70th session of the UNGA last year, i.e. Australia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nepal, Netherlands, Philippines and Sri Lanka, are also kindly requested to reconfirm their governments' co-sponsorship of the draft resolution.
With warm regards,
