Condolence Statement on the Passing Away of Hon. Prof. Hassan Ghafourifard

             On behalf of the Standing Committee Members of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), we express our great sorrow on the news of the sudden passing away of Hon. Prof. Hassan Ghafourifard, Member of the ICAPP Standing Committee, Member of Central Committee of Islamic Motalefeh Party, former Member of Parliament, Head of Physical Education Organization, and Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Thursday, 9 March 2023.

             Hon. Prof. Hassan Ghafourifard was an academic and dignitary who dedicated his life serving his country with unwavering devotion to his nation. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to his country through government positions, including those to lead Physical Education Organization, represent Tehran twice in the Parliament, and serve as Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

             Hon. Prof. Hassan Ghafourifard, as a pioneer in establishing cooperation among the political parties in Asia and early Member of the ICAPP, promoted the causes of the ICAPP immensely by bringing together the political parties in the region and solidifying the ICAPP as a firm platform. The warmth, exuberance, and passion that he has shown to the ICAPP activities will be long cherished by all his friends and admirers in Asia.

             May God grant his family the strength to bear this loss with fortitude.
